Today's Creating

There are so many things I enjoy doing both inside and outside, from knitting, crocheting, to photography and of course my girl's. This week was a tad difficult I have days where I wake in the middle of the night, sobbing, missing my other who passed in May 2017. The days are getting better in that area, yet, missing him seems to hit more at night, rightly so. I find comfort in my girl's, how I love them, a simple chicken brings me so much joy. Animals seem to do that, ya know, offer so much so easily even eggs...which is so exciting everyday, it never gets dull. I am so grateful for the girl's I added more to my flock. In the photograph from left to right, we have Ruby, Greta, Bessie, and Nosy Rosy she follows me everywhere and gets into everything. How she makes me smile.

I usually deal with the farm during the day and at night I knit or crochet. I've been knitting this sweater pattern that is truly easy should you know a bit about knitting, it is however, my first time adding the collar at the end. Okay, well yes, I did run out of yarn as I added length to the sweater, so I did have to order one more skein of Cascade 220 Superwash Sport. I did it in the color 1910 which the link will take you too. I just love Cascade Yarns and this one was so soft. Making it for my granddaughter who is 3 and being that age means, it better get done fast. I've also been out and about taking walks to relax, nature seems to have that affect on me, so soothing and inspirational. Which is why I carry my camera. Plus, I love taking photographs of the girl's. Should you be new to raising chicken's I'm your gal for questions. Learned a lot of what I know the hard way, hands on and of course the Internet, gee, what would we do without it? Give both chicken's and the sweater a go, you will enjoy them both!

Fabulous

I am nothing if not spontaneous...so they say one should blog at the same time everyday...if there would be anyone to break the mold it would be me.  And here I am...breaking it again with smiles on wee morning hours to show you why I choose black for a special girl. And here it is

 the reason for the Fingerless Gloves and Headband, I made for my grand daughter, Ms. Emma, soon to be three in May.

Look at those gorgeous little fingers and the gloves that fit even without a measure, hence, waiting on my son, who shoes you are looking at, to take the time and measure for me...then again that's guys, always forgetting or just not getting too something so simple. Na, he is a very hard worker he is an electrical engineer who travels the world. So I understand. So happy they fit, despite the fact, I did not figure her thumb to be so long, and the headband, she refused to model for us. Maybe another time..The pattern again Rivelyn Set was hard to follow as I had to rewrite...and that's okay.

So excited I was to see  the outfit on Ms. Emma who has a love of Minnie and Mickey mouse, however, she also loves cats...I am told. Just might be on the list of things to make. Happily I am finishing projects once again before bouncing to another. Yippy, I say, now lets just keep it going.

I do have another little project up my sleeve, it's already in the works, that is sizing it up, to fit this little one in the fall when it's cooler. Now, I will be searching for things done in a soft cotton for spring or maybe sewing little dresses...whatever I manage to create will show up here on my little blog. Crochet Tah Dah...

Finally I finished this set by "The Velvet Acorn" it was a bit confusing as written, however, once I took pen to paper and wrote it out it was awesome. 

I used Cascade 220 Superwash worsted weight, but fear, with the weather warming a bit I should have done this set earlier. Then again Mother Nature tends to do what she pleases until the end of April.

Here is the reason for the set being black...she will be three next month and biting my fingernails hoping it fits. They grow so fast at the Toddler stage and rightly so I should have worked this up faster as I've had the outfit awhile. I have just had so much trouble motivating so far this year. I sort of fell backwards on my finishing projects. There is a reason though, life seems to change so fast, one never knows what each day will bring. Sadly, a week ago a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with

aggressive cancer at 67. People seem to think that age is old especially the younger, I myself felt the same way, when I was young. The older we get and closer we get to 50/60 years of age it really seems quite young. It has hit me right at the heart, this person is a dear, dear, friend, and I have been helping them. My father passed of cancer in 1986 at the age of 67 while I was pregnant with my daughter...he so wanted me to have a girl. I tried so hard to get the ultrasound to show the baby was indeed a girl. Sadly, it never showed, so I told him yes it was...thank goodness it turned out to be...at least I know it made him happy and was not a little white lie...opps! So, there you have it the tah-dah moment which is so awesome such a sense of accomplishment. I just love creating new things.

Emma's Gloves

It's late I know....I always pop in anytime...one never knows when I will post...that's the beauty of being spontaneous and loving the idea of living life on my own terms. Okay, so there are rules to follow in life...stay inside the lines...I know, I know....however, the beauty of being an Empty Nester...I can live my own personal life on my terms and that's amazing about age. It's been a tough month, a tough week, a tough time making these gloves. I literally kept tearing them out over and over and over...you would not believe how many times. Thank goodness I am not a quitter...at one time yes...now with age I am so over it...I keep pushing forward and loving it...especially this beautiful yarn. Cascade 220 Superwash has my vote every time. Easy to work, love the stitch definition, and it's kid friendly.

These are for Emma, my grand daughter, one of the three grand babies that is turning three, in May.

Imagine three turning three...all three of my older kids had babies at the same time. So cool! I will be adding buttons not sure if these are the ones. Actually may not have enough of them...so it's off to the fabric shop to find the right ones. In the meantime...I am working the head band that will match this set. As far as the color choice there is a reason behind the madness. Once you see the Tah Dah moment it will all make sense. Thank you for popping in on this spontaneous, late, post.

Patterns...

This cute little guys I came across on Pinterest that lead to a pattern in French. I really enjoy Pinterest with the exception of a lot of patterns being in foreign languages or directed to some advertisement or another site that has nothing to do with the image. Today that's my big pet peeve, it seems. Clicking and opening a page with not one darn thing to do with the image. What is up with that..it's like calling on the phone in this day and age...so many prompts to listen too...pick one...and then they go to another. Feels like the world is full of automated voices. Help, someone just please answer the phone, are ya hearing me? Dang it those things drive me nuts...who's got time to listen to all that, I mean really, it's so darn frustrating. Can you tell, as I am laughing, thinking, wow, I think I hit a nerve. One of my own, well heck, it is annoying.

So, yes I manage to spend hours turning this into an English pattern, with lots of time involved. Now I just have to try the pattern and write it properly hoping it comes out fine. Oh, why do I feel like this is going to be a task. Well, at best I hope not. 

I am still working the Rivelyn Pattern by The Velvet Acorn it has been ripped out started over more times than I care to count. I am using Cascade 220 Superwash, so love this yarn, and in black changed my mind on the color from the last post about my progress. Black is sure one color this gal's eyes has trouble knitting or crocheting. But, I march forward...with hook in hand... as soon as they are complete...and there is that word complete...arg....so many patterns so little time. Oh, and once I get this pattern right...I will post the translation...only because it's a free pattern.

Crocheting and Photography Days

Robins are a big sign of Spring here in Ohio especially the North East were winter has been so kind to us. They have been showing up in abundance. At least, I hope we get through March the same as February, Mother nature has blessed us. This looks like a bit of a young one. I just love seeing these birds who eat nothing but worms it seems.

Speaking of these lovely birds since I feed the ones outside..I really don't have a clear view to watch them feed, I decided to bring them inside.

 These little Budgies or as we call them Parakeets are new to my home. I just love the sound of nature and these guys sure do squawk when they decide too. Yet it is so incredibly awesome to hear simply fascinating. 

As is Cascade 220 yarn one of my favorite yarns by far...well...there are others, do I have to list them all. Oh, gosh, I think I will stay with Cascade since I am currently working a project with this beautiful yarn.

 I am working a pattern by The Velvet Acorn on Etsy. I do wish people would work the patterns before giving a feedback on just the looks of the pattern and project. This particular one had some difficulties in the written pattern itself. I really had to rewrite it my way to understand some of the pattern. I notice this one called Rivelyn is a bit to understand. No term definition which would be difficult for a beginner or a bit experienced. I noticed in her feedback those who have completed patterns before the review had to contact the owner for help. Not sure if she does this to market contact with customers or the patterns just don't explain terms that most may require. Either way, once the pattern is adjusted I do have to say, I like them.

What's on the Knitting Needles...

I am one who pops in randomly to post on my blog...I am spontaneous by nature...I am multi-talented...creative by nature. With all that said, the hot weather has finally arrived, the very hot, humid weather, the kind were you see water and just want to dive in..kind of weather. The kind where I'm questioning, why am I knitting weather, with Cascade 220 Heathers 100% wool which would say, hey, fall has suddenly reaped her wrath upon us. Twisting the cool weather into our bones, the kind of cool that is easier to get warm then it is too cool off. The kind that says, wrap yourself up in nicely knitted handmade garments, not the dreaded manufactured ones, but, the handmade keepsake kind...that say...made with lots of love. Just for you! The kind that leaves behind a treasured keepsake and hope it doesn't find itself at a garage sale, or worse the thrift shop unable to scream, " I am handmade, please keep me, pass me down as a true member of the family," kind of garment. Tell stories of me, how I came about, how grandma made me years ago. How I am one of kind. That's  what's on the needles...the Isla Cape for my grand daughter Emma Ann this fall. The pattern is from Slip, Slip, Knit blog and I love it. For those who know some intermediate it's really pretty simple and the pattern is well written, plus, I love how fast it's knitting up. So if you're looking for a nice handmade gift for an infant to toddler this is a keeper.
