Emma's Gloves

It's late I know....I always pop in anytime...one never knows when I will post...that's the beauty of being spontaneous and loving the idea of living life on my own terms. Okay, so there are rules to follow in life...stay inside the lines...I know, I know....however, the beauty of being an Empty Nester...I can live my own personal life on my terms and that's amazing about age. It's been a tough month, a tough week, a tough time making these gloves. I literally kept tearing them out over and over and over...you would not believe how many times. Thank goodness I am not a quitter...at one time yes...now with age I am so over it...I keep pushing forward and loving it...especially this beautiful yarn. Cascade 220 Superwash has my vote every time. Easy to work, love the stitch definition, and it's kid friendly.

These are for Emma, my grand daughter, one of the three grand babies that is turning three, in May.

Imagine three turning three...all three of my older kids had babies at the same time. So cool! I will be adding buttons not sure if these are the ones. Actually may not have enough of them...so it's off to the fabric shop to find the right ones. In the meantime...I am working the head band that will match this set. As far as the color choice there is a reason behind the madness. Once you see the Tah Dah moment it will all make sense. Thank you for popping in on this spontaneous, late, post.

Risotto Fingerless Gloves Free Pattern

Knitting these is simple and creating them was even fun despite wanting it to be spring. I love the casual look a classic the combination of ribbing and the Risotto Stitch which gives a different appearance to a fingerless glove. The photograph compliments of my neighbors nice closed in gazebo. The pattern is easy to follow and they knit up quickly. Have fun!

Pattern Level: Advanced Beginner Materials: Worsted weight yarn about 150 yards Size 10 straight knitting needles  and Tapestry needle 

Gauge: 5 rows x 4 st = 1 inch in stockinette stitch Finished Measurements: 6 1/2 in. x 3 in. 

Risotto Stitch Pattern:  L H N - left hand needle.

Row 1: (R S) knit 

Row 2: *p2tog but leave the 2 sts on L H N, ybk, ktog same 2 sts, rep from * to end. 

Row 3: knit 

Row 4: p1, *p2tog but leave 2 sts on L H N, ybk, ktog same 2 sts, rep from * to last st, p1.

Make 2- CO 30 sts using size 10 straight knitting needles. Leave a tail about 12 inches long to be used for finishing. Set‐up ribbing pattern: 

Row 1: (R S) k1, *k2, p2‐‐rep from * to last st, k1. 

Row 2: (WS) p1, *k2, p2‐‐rep from * to last st, p1. ‐Repeat rows 1& 2 until piece measures 2 in. from CO end WS.

Dec Row: (R S) k across, dec 6 st evenly. 

Set‐up Risotto Stitch pattern: (WS) p1, work row 2 of Risotto Stitch pattern to the last st, p1. Continue working in pattern as established keeping 1 st at each edge in St st, until piece measures 4 1/2 in from CO end R S. 

Set up ribbing pattern: 

Row 1: (WS) k3, *p2, k2 ‐rep from * to last 3 st, p3‐‐dec 2 st evenly across row on first row only. 

Repeat Row 1 until ribbing section measures 11/2 in. end WS.

BO st loosely in pattern, leaving a 12 inch tail.
Finishing: ‐Starting at the bound off edge and using tapestry needle, use tail to sew side seams of the ribbing section together. Stop when you reach the Risotto Stitch pattern section. K not off. ‐Starting at the cast on edge, use the tail to sew the side edges together for 3inches. knot off.

Weave in loose ends.
