Summer Project...

Ah July, the flowers bloom over and over, the rain falls leaving droplets on tender leaves, the gorgeous sunsets followed by a lovely cool night. I photograph nearly daily and love it. The grand babies are doing so good, the three born from November 2013 to May 2014 are all settling, the youngest still trying to find her rhythm yet all is good. I feel a calming this week the kind that is reminisce of a fall season, not that I am ready for that to arrive, simply feeling low key. This is when I knit the most, I love the rhythm of something simple like the garter stitch, the flow of the back and forth even makes for a more relaxed setting. Although I think I will add a bit of charcoal color in a few stripes throughout the project. Nothing fancy a simple toasty warm blanket done in Lion Brand Thick and Quick yarn. I didn't want this project to take to long just needed the feel of the yarn through my fingers, since I am more of a fall and winter knitter/crocheter. The cool days recently I believe had my fingers craving the clicking of the needles. Yes, this will be my summer project I will finish before the cool/cold weather sets upon us. The one I will focus on, the only one, I will get done so I can wrap myself in the warmth and thickness. Should you be interested in making this simple blanket its done on 13" circular needles cast on of 190 stitches.

Hand Sewing a Quilt...

I've been working on the quilt for little Emma Ann and must add it's going really well, in fact I decided to do it all by hand. Yes, I am hand stitching the entire quilt, no sewing machine at all. Although I have one I get so annoyed at changing everything moving the fabric around and such...and as you know I love the Amish way of life. I do a lot of things around my home just as they do, like washing my clothes, gardening to fill my cabinets to lower cost of groceries. 

I have done extensive research on Amish quilting by hand and have to say I am so much more pleased with the out come of this quilt compared to machine stitching. According to the Amish a machine quilt looses value with time where as a hand stitched gains with time. By hand stitching a quilt also tends to last longer, they should not be washed or stored in plastic only a sheet. Washing a hand stitched quilt is not recommended merely taking it outside after a snow and whipping it up and down against the snow will freshen the quilt.

I can not express how easy and rewarding hand stitching a quilt really is when working on it, not only is it relaxing but also seems quicker. I am really enjoying this quilt and plan on making more the same way. I have the top just about completed, once I get the quilt ready to sew the batting and back together I will show a photograph before the tah-dah moment.

A bountiful of babies

Spring has arrive and it's been filled with babies.... of all kinds.

Remember baby William who was born November 12, 2013 he is really becoming a big boy, ooh so fast.

At 5 months here and now nearly 6 it's hard to believe how moments in time seem to fly by... That of course, is his mama, my daughter, Dannon. She is such a wonderful mother and a beautiful daughter.

As you may remember too, I purchased a Cannon Rebel EOS T3i and have been having so much fun experimenting with all the different settings, and ways I can photograph. I am loving it. This certainly says spring is here to stay, and the rebirth of everything is glorious, isn't it?

Then there is this new one added to my grand baby list. Meet Camilla (Ca Mil La) Marie, she was born premature on March 25th with a few minor problems that has her still at the NICU finally weighing in at 7 lbs. which took quite awhile. She is coming home the first week of May, she is my very first grand daughter. I am in love! Welcome to our family and the world little girl. 

On that note, I have another grand daughter due to arrive the end of May. We are so blessed with babies.

Even the smallest of baby flowers that grow random in our yards. Most apply fertilizer which saddens me as these are so beautiful when in bloom. The color is magnificent as are the dainty blooms.

This little one was rather funny, I was in the woods photographing when I noticed him on the ground. He followed me, then I him, it was so unusual yet fascinating that when he stopped, it was if to say okay, take my photograph I'm ready now, and so I did. Nice pose, hey! 

My apology for being away for so long, the last few months have been filled with babies, each having there own little issues that required them to have hospital stays. Even little William, who gave us all a scare, not to worry he is fine. Merely lactose intolerant which took the doctors awhile to figure out. Strange huh!

Sewing All Kinds of Things....

Wow it's been awhile...I've been so busy and excited spring is nearly here, grand baby Will is 4 months just growing away. I simply adore everything about him, his smile captivates my soul. He is magnificent, happy every moment, eating rice cereal, and just taking his mother's breath away with everything new he does. 

I've been sewing away, I finally added my homespun black and cream curtains to the living room. I just love them! I need to finish that darn chair, I keep meaning to do it but life comes along and whee, time has passed. I think I might just ship it out to be finished.

Then I've been gathering fabric sewing up this little bags, oh they are so cute. They are going to be gift bags, special occasions and such...I can't wait to show you after many more to complete. The pillow cases are coming along even added scroll designs made to look aged. I am working on getting a lot together to do what I plan which is a surprise.

And I even got down to it and tried gray...only on the toes, to put it on the walls would be a bit much for me. There are so many hues to Gray's and not one I would like to look at everyday, especially in the different lights. 

Finally,  I am working on pillows by P.S. I crochet. I just love the design isn't her pillow just too cute!! I just love her new blog design, go check it out, you'll love it I'm sure! I'm doing mine in brown and black balls with an ivory yarn.

He's Growing...

And he keeps growing...I tell you baby William is nearly 4 months already and has a contagious smile! It's gorgeous! He loves the bunny grandma made, and I am so happy he does!

My delay in posting has been due to so many things I am creating at the moment.

And the work in the green house has begun. Spring is coming and very soon two grand daughters.

I am so very blessed.

Sunny Days and Creating

  The past few days have been sunny, the snow is finally melting and it nice to see the green grass underneath after months of just seeing white everywhere. Although the sun is shinning it still feels like winter and a long hibernating winter it has been for so many people this season. It was so nice to feel the ground under my feet today instead of tracking through tons of snow. I've been creating away, cutting fabric, running it through the sewing machine. Today though I took a break from everything and decided just to enjoy the day, relax.

Baby William is growing so fast, it seems once they get to the 3 month mark, they are 1 before we know it. I look at him and see so much life ahead of him, and wonder what it will be...he looks a lot like his daddy, his smile belongs to his mommy. He's been giggling a lot, jibber jabber, a little noise maker at such a young age. He is a happy baby so his mommy tells me and a good baby. How is it they grow so fast in just a blink of of an eye they are 18. There are two more babies arriving soon, two more tiny faces, the first of the girl's for this grandma. But that's okay, as there is room in my heart for them all.
