Working Clay

For a few months now I have found myself dabbling in clay again. It's another of things I love doing, only haven't done in a long time. This is not polymer clay, nope, I like to get my hands wet and work the clay. I hope to this winter to fit in making a bust of one of my grand children.
When these are done I will post where they can be purchased. The santa with the windows, has some in the back to...he lights up with a little battery operated tea light. He will also have little silver bells handing from his hat.

I am not new to any clay...I have worked with polymer clay...this was done for my grandson's birthday cake.

One of my all time favorites is making elves and fairies...working with doll clay I think is the clay I love the most. I always wanted to make a doll that resembled my daughter, life got busy and it didn't happen. Sometimes I think, if only there were 4 of me, I could get done all the things I enjoy...wouldn't that be nice...time seems to go so quickly its seems I no sooner get up and the day is gone.
I always thought being an empty nester there would be more time...to me it seems to go faster.
How about you?

Need To Escape...

There are times in life when you just have to go another way...take a venture...a vacation...anything to change what you're currently doing. A step out of the everyday hum drum...the routine....as I sit here and laugh thinking I have a routine... this spontaneous person... who goes with the flow...at times..yes..I do just that...need to change up and create with another medium. Funny, every time I see the word medium or hear it... I think of those who speak to the dead...I once wanted to do that or try it to see if it really worked....then I thought...not this girl... I'll stay speaking with the living.

I don't know if I truly believe in such a thing...do you?

Halloween always brings such things to my mind. Is it impossible... hardly...anything is truly possible. Yet for me...I need some sort of facts...to believe things. I will search for those facts... it's just what I do.

So...I went back to clay for awhile to escape... one thing.. I do every day....it consumes a portion of my time...and is rather routine. Ooo...did I just say routine..yup I did...in one way I do have a routine not done at the same time everyday...but for me....it's a routine. So I decided to escape..take a staycation...and do something entirely different...and here it is.....I am working with polymer clay and paper clay. I worked with this medium a lot...years ago...and stopped only because it drives me crazy. I am so  OCD when it comes to certain mediums and this is one. Perfection is what happens when I work with these mediums, and perfection is not possible, in return I work and work away...until...I have to stop myself and say...enough!

For the time being this escape will do me good...doesn't everyone need to break away...even You!

A White Fairy Visits...

Yesterday, was a day of doing a lot and accomplishing nothing. I am sure you know how it feels, when you spend your day creating for hours and when you get done, your like the day is over and this is it...I stood there looking at the item I had been working on...6 hours...yes, I couldn't believe it. The day was just about gone and it felt so wasted. That was until I had a visit from a lovely White and Silver Fairy. Isn't he just the cutest thing! This one is for my daughters new baby.
If you would like one leave a message with your email and I will contact you. He stands about 4 1/2" although being handmade they may vary in appearance and height. He has glass eyes is made from living doll polymer clay and is very light weight.

Have a Wonderful Sunday! I am off to knit more of my log cabin blanket.
